Policies and Cancellations

Every paddler 18 years old and over must sign a waiver prior to paddling. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a Parental Consent form.

In regards to Covid, we are following provincial recommendations closely. Should there be any reason that we are unable to host our rentals or tours, such as Covid or weather conditions, we do not hold our guests liable.

Cancellations

In the event that we are able to operate our tours and you need to cancel – please read the following cancellation agreement: Note, rain or showers do not require cancellation.

From May 15 to September 15, all reservations require at least 72 hours written notice. Reservations during a long weekend, or bookings of 4 or more people, we require 5 days written notice.

Without above proper notice, 50% of reservation will be charged to Credit Card on File. If less than 24 hours written notice, full reservation will be charged to credit card on file.

For guided tours, a $75 cancellation fee will be charged if we do not receive written notice 72 hours prior to tour, as we will have booked a guide for your tour.

When Pedals & Paddles takes a reservation, the boat is held for you and nobody else. We often find ourselves turning potential customers away due to full reservations, then a bad (and often wrong) forecast results in many last minute cancellations, and we are left with kayaks on the rack. Many outdoors people do have the correct gear and will continue with an adventure no matter the forecast.

Launching Privileges

We charge $10 per vehicle to park & launch personal kayaks or canoes, for overnight stays we charge an additional $5 per vehicle per day. Equipment can be unloaded at our launch site but vehicles must park is in our upper (secure) parking lot (2-3 min walk from launch site). If arriving in the same vehicle as as someone renting from Pedals & Paddles, we will only charge a $10 launch fee (Providing the parties depart and return together). While we would love to offer free public launching & parking, our property is very costly maintain and our belief is all paddlers utilizing the space should contribute to its operating expenses.

There is easily accessible public beach access just a few hundred meters north of us in Lamb’s Bay & Tuwanek Spit that offers free launching & parking but does not allow for overnight parking. Please feel free to come and ask for local advise and knowledge if desired! 🙂
